Explore the characteristics and nuances of managing, leading and coaching. Identify management roles and behaviours and your own self-leadership. Learn to coach staff with an adequate posture implying active listening and qualitative feedback. Recognize the role of the manager in preventing stress or reducing its consequences.
This course it designed to strengthen core competencies as a team manager in humanitarian environment, it is built on lectures, role-playing exercises, case studies, work group and discussions.
Participants will be able to identify management roles and behaviours, describe their own self-leadership, to coach a staff with an adequate posture implying active listening and qualitative feedback, identify the role of the manager in preventing stress or reducing its consequences.
More specifically you will be able to:
- Analyse the different roles of a manager
- Position yourself in a management role in order to reach the objectives set by yourself and by your organisation.
- Identify how you manage your energy to fulfill your role.
- Strengthen your capabilities to coach your staff with an adequate posture and with enhanced skills in active listening and in providing feedback;
- Practice a typical coaching process and specific coaching tools;
- Analyse the benefits of coaching in the development of staff’s competences and performance;
- Identify individually concrete actions to reinforce their coaching practice in the work-place.
- Integrate the physical and psychological mechanism of stress in the context of humanitarian action
- Identify your own coping strategy and start an individual stress management plan
- Distinguish the dimensions of organisational stress and apply them to support their team’s stress management
- Identify the weak point of their organization in organizational stress management and adapt their management practice consequently
