André Picot has over 16 years of experience as a trainer in the domains of communication and protection. He served as the deputy head of training for the ICRC, where he also headed the training unit of Africa based in Dakar. Over the past 30 years he has held various positions at the ICRC including delegate, head of mission, and head of delegation in the Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe and the former USSR. He has also contributed to a field study on Macedonia and Ivory Coast for the Cente for Humanitarian Dailogue, which led to the publication of the manual, Humanitarian Negotiation: A Handbook for Securing Assess, Protection and Assistance for Civilians in Armed Conflicts. He holds a Master degree in Law from the University of Geneva.
