Objectives
Humanitarian actors have become qualified professionals. As in all professions, post-graduate training has become the key to a career in humanitarian work.
The teaching philosophy at CERAH is to offer critical and documented reflection on the main contemporary humanitarian crises and the multiple dimensions of humanitarian practice. Students do not receive training in field practice; this is usually offered by humanitarian organisations themselves. Training at CERAH is more theoretical and addresses the factors triggering crises and their evolution, the vulnerabilities and difficulties of the period immediately following a crisis, the different types of intervention in acute or chronic crises, and management and evaluation tools.
