Dr. Sharon Weill

Dr Sharon Weill is a SNF researcher and lecturer at Sciences Po Paris. She is a specialist in international law applicable during times of conflict.

Her particular field of interest is the relationship between international and domestic law, the politics of international law, the judicial enforcement mechanism of international law, military justice and counter terrorism.

Her Ph.D "The Role of National Court in Applying International Humanitarian Law" ​ (Geneva University) ​was published by Oxford University Press in 2014. She worked for five years as a research fellow at the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian and Human Rights law, and was a visiting senior researcher fellow at the London School of Economics ("Security in Transition Project" with Prof. Mary Kaldor and Christine Chinkin). In 2015-2016 she did research at the University of California, Berkeley (Postdoc Mobility, SNF) on the military trials in Guantanamo Bay. Currently she is associate researcher at CERI, Sciences-Po Paris and working on counter terrorism in the French legal context. 
She regularely gives seminars for NGOs practitioners and is a legal advisor for different NGOs and UN bodies.

In 2006, ​Sharon made a 52-minute documentary film “Borders”. The film - a road movie in the Mediterranean region (Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey and both sides of Cyprus) – deals with friendship, borders, and conflicts. It was aired on the French TV (the parliamentary channel) several times in 2008.
